To Do Tuesday for the Week of 8/8/2023 from Life In Pieces

This week has gotten off to a much cooler start than last week.  We had a rainy weekend in the first time in a long while. It made for a very nice, cool walk yesterday.  I'm sure it will heat back up again, we don't really see fall temperatures here till late September or early October.  Which really isn't all that far off. The end of the year will be here before we know it.  I'm trying to make sure some of those things I want to get done by the end of the year show ...

July Wrap Up: PHD in 2023 from Life In Pieces

On the one hand, I'm really ready for some cooler weather and August gets us closer to that. On the other hand, August is the 8th month, so we'll be three quarters through the year at the end of it. That I'm not ready for.  I've been participating in Quilting Gail's PHD in 2023 program again this year.  There has been some good progress on my UFOs, but as yet there still aren't any finishes for 2023, so my chart is unchanged from June.

On the positive side of things, at least there have ...

To Do List for the Week of 8/1/2023 from Life In Pieces

It's August?  This year is certainly moving quickly.  August is usually the hottest month of the summer.  Fingers crossed we end up with a cooler month than average. It's been so hot, a lot of us are more then ready for some cooler weather.

The hot weather is great at encouraging me to spend more time in my air conditioned sewing room. That paid off with progress on last week's to do list.

To Do List for 7/25/2023

1. Diatom: Finish blocks 10, 11 &12 ✔

2. Wild and Goosey: Cut red scraps and make 1 ...

To Do List for the Week of 7/25/2023 from Life In Pieces

There was no to do list for last week.  Grad Girl doesn't have a lot, but it's amazing how long it takes to pack and load, then unload and unpack even a small apartment.  It just didn't make sense to make a list for last week, especially since I didn't do so well on the list for the previous week. Even with another week to work on projects, I didn't check off all the items on the list.

To Do List for 7/11/2023

PHD in 2023: February Update from Life In Pieces

February wasn't the best month on the stitching front. My shoulder issues sidelined me for about a week. I'm finding that there are still schedule disruptions, outside appointments, and other errands that intrude on my days.  That's OK we have stuff that needs to get done and I'm grateful that we can take care of those things now.  But it does cut into my stitching time and probably will for a bit. We delayed a lot of repair work because it was hard for us to get off work. At some point we'll get caught ...

To Do List for the Week of 2/21/2023 from Life In Pieces

I'm a bit late posting today.  Computer time has been limited, my shoulder has started acting up again. That's eaten into my stitching time, my blog reading and email replies.  Being at the sewing machine doesn't bother it as badly as being on the computer does, but I've had to cut down on both to help get the inflammation down.  A couple of days of limited activity and my shoulder should be back to normal.  This along with my allergies over the weekend affected my progress on last week's to do list.

To Do List ...

To Do List for the Week of 2/14/2023 from Life In Pieces

Happy Valentine's Day!  Hope you have some fun plans with your loved ones.  Grad Girl got her box of goodies over the weekend (including a toy or two for Queenie). My Guy is currently somewhere between here and Arizona, but he took me out for a special Valentine brunch on Saturday and then I took him out to dinner on Sunday (normally he cooks on Sunday).

Last weekend was busy, on top of the celebrating the holiday early, there was science fair to judge and getting My Guy ready for his trip.  You can probably tell what's coming ...

PHD in 2023: January Update from Life In Pieces

So far all we've seen from the winter storms this week was some sleet on Monday.  It's just been really cold. But I'll take that over the ice storm that's in the forecast for areas south of us. Grad Girl said that Texas A&M canceled classes for today due to the threat of winter precipitation. Stay safe everyone if you have to get out and about.

This is my 5th year to participate in Quilting Gail's PHD (Projects Half Done). I've yet to finish my PHD, I doubt I finish it this year ...

To Do Tuesday for the Week of 1/17/2023 from Life In Pieces

It was a good week on the stitching front. No fever for 24 hours as of Sunday morning, so we were able to get mostly back to normal in terms of living arrangements.  Thankfully staying on 2 separate floors seems to have been effective, My Guy never did test positive for Covid.

Other than the low grade fever, I felt pretty good most of the week and made some good progress on my To Do List.

Weekly To Do List for 1/10/2023

1. Melodic Mystery: Finish half blocks for Jan clue ✔

To Do Tuesday for the Week of 1/10/2023 from Life In Pieces

My plans for the week got derailed, pretty significantly.  I'm feeling much better, but I still have a low grade fever, so that means more quarantining and avoiding My Guy.  Having Covid definitely made it harder to manage my To Do List for last week.

To Do List for 1/3/2023

1. Diatom: Select fabrics ✔
2. SAHRR: Decide on center block
3. Unity: Prep for quilt for quilting - No progress
4. Melodic Mystery: Finish Dec. Start Jan clues
5. Chilhowie: Finish Clue 2, Work on 3, 4, 5, 6, 7- progress
6. Rhododendron: Leaders and Enders

PHD in 2022: December and Year End Wrap Up from Life In Pieces

I'm struggling a bit to think clearly.  Benadryl does wonders for allergies, but it also creates a lot of brain fog.  I think the cats, Grad Girls and my mom's, finally got to me yesterday.  Actually it's probably mostly due to my mom's cat.  He decided to sleep next to my head Tuesday night. Grad Girl and I drove back down to my mother's on Tuesday because it would cut 2.5 hours off GG's trip back to college and I needed to pick up some things that wouldn't fit in the car ...

To Do Tuesday 1/3/2023 from Life In Pieces

A nice thing about a new year is that it's a way for us to reset and refocus our efforts. Really we can do that at any point in the year, but the new year just seems to be a natural reset point.  I've been pretty happy with my efforts with with To Do Tuesday, so I don't have any plans to change my approach there.  But there is a change in the hostess this year. Carol of the Quilt Schmidt: For the Love of Fabric is taking over the care and feeding of the linky party ...

Mystery Stitching from Life In Pieces

Today is the last day of our holiday vacation.  My Guy heads back to work tomorrow and Grad Girl starts the trip back to Texas tomorrow.  She'll go visit Grandma tomorrow afternoon, that will cut about two and half hours off the eight hour drive.  I'm going to be really sad the rest of this week. Thankfully there are some new quilt alongs starting up soon. Hopefully getting ready for those will help me adjust to being home alone again.

There has been some stretches of stitching time this week between Christmas and New Years.  The big accomplishment ...

To Do Tuesday for the Week of 12/27/2022 from Life In Pieces

Hard to believe this will be the last To Do Tuesday for the year.  In addition to saying goodbye to 2022 later this week, we'll also be saying goodbye to Linda of Texas Quilt Gal who has has been our hostess for this weekly linky party since 2021.  Thank you Linda for getting the party started each week.

My sewing time during the lead up to Christmas varies widely depending upon how much holiday stuff I got done prior to that week.  Consequently, I kept my To Do List for this week really simple.

Not Much on the Design Wall from Life In Pieces

It was a stay at home and not do much kind of weekend. The wind was so cold, so it wasn't a hardship to just stay home.  I'm not looking forward to next weekend, the forecast is for really cold temperatures.  I know we won't be as cold as those of you to the north, but -7 F is cold no matter where you live!

The sewing room has seen a fair amount of activity, but there's not really much to show. I've mostly been working on the Meadow Mist Designs and Bonny Hunter mysteries ...

To Do Tuesday for the Week of 12/13/2022 from Life In Pieces

December will be half over on Thursday.  I'm ready for a clean start in 2023, but am definitely not ready for the holiday that happens between now and then. I've written in previous posts that my holiday spirit seems to have gone into hiding this year. I'm still adjusting to the new normal I guess. Hopefully it will get a good boost when Grad Girl comes home next week.

I've been keeping the weekly to do lists pretty simple. I'm just not that ambitious at the moment, my goal is to just keep making progress ...

To Do Tuesday For the Week of 12/6/2022 from Life In Pieces

As much as I enjoy the holiday season, I really don't like the cold and dreary weather, it's very deenergizing. I'm sure my energy levels would also be better if things would quit breaking.  The latest is a leak in the drain line from the tub in the second floor bathroom.  We've sent up an appointment with the plumber.  Not sure how much of the bathroom they are going to have to deconstruct to fix the leak, but it has to be done. I may have to relocate my sewing activities as my sewing room is ...

Just a Bit of Stitching from Life In Pieces

The weekend was cold and windy, good stitching weather. Or it would have been except for the respiratory or sinus infection that was trying to take hold this weekend. I didn't do much on Saturday, but finally felt well enough to head to the sewing room late Sunday afternoon. Bonnie Hunter posted the second clue for Chilhowie, but I'm still stitching on clue 1.  Not much to show for that project yet, just lots of strip sets.

The December clue for the Melodic Mystery (Meadow Mist Designs) was out on Thursday. There I did make some visible progress ...

PHD in 2022: November Progress from Life In Pieces

Just 31 days left in 2022.  I'm really not ready for that. On the other hand, this year hasn't been so great on a number of fronts, so I'm looking forward to the new year in hopes it's a lot better.  Since it is a new month, it's time to summarize my progress on earning my PHD and share over at Quilting Gail's.  It's not a stellar report, but there has been some progress on all the active projects.

No new finishes, but one new start. The clues for both mystery quilts won ...

To Do Tuesday for the Week of 11/29/2022 from Life In Pieces

We had a fun Thanksgiving with Grad Girl.  We were amazingly busy while we were there. We spent one day in Houston hanging out at the Houston Museum of Natural History. One day was dedicated to Christmas shopping.  Even though I didn't have a lot of time for stitching I still managed to check off all the items on my to do list.

To Do List for 11/22/2022

1. Melodic Mystery: Work on clue 3 ✔
2. Chilhowie Mystery: Start clue 1
